The BBC’s forthcoming super-hot reality TV series, Home to Roost featuring Ozzy Osbourne and his family, has fans of the original 2000s MTV series—The Osbournes—buzzing like a crazy train. But perhaps wisely, Ozzy has trepidations about the production, telling a British tabloid he is “deeply nervous” about stepping back into the insane world of reality television.

Returning once again for Home To Roost is of course Ozzy, his wife and manager Sharon, daughter Kelly and son Jack, as the Osbourne family—as was reported last spring—are leaving Los Angeles, their home for two decades, and returning to their UK home in Buckinghamshire.

Kelly and her partner, Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, are recently new mum and dad to a baby boy. Her brother Jack is now a father of four. Both Osbourne siblings are currently in their mid-30s. Their older sister, Aimee Osbourne—Sharon and Ozzy‘s first child together—did not appear in The Osbournes, and she will not appearing in Home to Roost, either.

As for looking back on the success of The Osbournes, a somewhat shocked Ozzy admitted to the UK’s Mirror that, “I don’t know how The Kardashians have done it for so long – it sent us crazy at the end. I am not sorry I did it, but after three or four years I said, ‘Do you know what, we’re going to lose somebody because it is getting too crazy.’

“There is rock and roll fame, which is pretty intense, but that [show’s] level [of notoriety] was just unbelievable,” Osbourne continued. “The kids paid for it. They all ended up doing drugs. Jack got clean and sober on that show, Kelly messed up on that show, I was messed up and Sharon got cancer.”

While all these things are very true, I personally like to think of The Osbournes as some of the period’s best cinema verite during a time that was otherwise marked by a stockpile of shit reality television.

Regardless, we hope everything goes smooth for the Osbournes on their way back to England. And, look for Home to Roost to debut on BBC One and its video on demand services sometime later this year.
